Question whats the difference between the two

i have changed the lambda sensor which is in the header pipe before the turbo .so whats the sensor after the turbo in the down pipe called and what does it do please

opps 95 wagon

i have a problem that is starting to get me down now .i have a air fuel meter in a side pod .and its staying on the lean side .i have changed the lambda and the maf .and it has made no difference .i see this other sensor on the down pipe and wondered what it does and if that could be wired into my meter and show the lean side .it is now also hunting on idle some times also .so changing the two above sensors hasnt made any difference .i have downloaded the pdf file from here and i see there is a idle control valve on the throttle bodies .can they be stripped down and cleaned .do they need this ?? .iam just asking all of you what ya reckon could be my problem .also cleaned all earth points now so that stops that one .

please help as i dont drive it as much as the wife does .and its getting dangerous with her and the kids in .

right.. if you have a lambda sensor in the headers then the sensor in the downpipe is the cat not working sensor.. you can ignore it.. it only puts the light on the dash that looks like a cat on fire if the exhaust gas temp gets too high.

does the car idle and drive okay and just the meter wrong? ie. is it wired up right?

meter been in the car over 7 years .so yep that part is right .
idle is ok 99% of the time then jumps down too nearly a stall and then jumps back up .
when cold it will hunt on throttle and idle some times and some times it will run fine .
on the meter side of things it when playing up stay very lean and even disappear from the meter altogether .

cheers JGM as i know ya answer loads of questions

full decat .double neck down pipe straight through middle section and unknown back box and a h&s uppipe .all been on for over two years at least or longer dependant on part
