I have a VF34 which is very similar to the VF35. I understand the 35 spools slightly earlier but has less at the top end. I don't know anything about the TD05 but am well pleased with my VF34 which was supplied by powerstation a couple of years ago.
It takes quite a lot to get a WRX up to 350bhp with good torque, I think I was around 330/311 with similar mods to the one's you are planning but cars do vary.
Hope this helps
cheers
Trevor

If you want a TD05 16G then, because it's top entry, you'll have to get the compressor cover converted by having an engineering shop cut the snorkel off and re-weld a suitable length collar back on for your 'under the IM' turbo intake hose.

But forget that, just fit a straight swap VF34 or 35. AFAIK they have very similar spool characteristics as the TD, and similar power capabilities i.e. upto 350bhp. One of those VFs (can't remember which) is a roller bearing version of the other, which means it spools slightly quicker, but is that bit more fragile (I think).

VF34 is rollerbearing

Sparky,
I may be selling my VF34 and STI 550's, I haven't come to a decision about another upgrade yet but I'd be looking for about £400, turbo and injectors
cheers
Trevor

Oh sorry, does that mean the 34 has more top end... and 35 spools quicker, then?

I have the VF34.
I had the VF35.

As it was already mentioned here, the 35 does spooles a little faster, but get to it's top end faster too...
it chunk's where the 34 keeps on boosting and beating. there is slight difference in the kicking of the turbo. the 34 gets in more linery way then the 35, and last's much longer then him. it last's up to the max rev's without any power losses of the engine.
Defently recommend the 34 on the 35.

I have the vf34 also, but often wonder what it would be like using the hybrid td04? These are good for over 300 and maybe 320 i think. That way you keep the best of both worlds

I think the AFTD04 Hybrid is only good for 290bhp (I'm sure that's what it states on AF's site ). So if you're happy at the sort of level, then great!... A really low spooling turbo with max boost developed at about 2,500rpm, held all the way to the redline like the TD05 ...... However, you have to ask yourself: "Will I want - nay, need - more?!"

The choice, as they say, is yours...
