Default dumpvalves

ok im going to sound really sad now but i love the sound of dumpvalves but can these be fitted to a non turbo car? This may seem a really dumb question but i have no idea where they go or what they actually do but i love the noise. I have a 2000 impreza sport,if they can be put on does anyone know a how and b where is a good place to get them from how much will it cost and how do i put it on.

They're not intended for NA cars

They're designed to take the strain off the turbo's compressor wheel/blades by dumping the boost before it can flow back to the compressor (so as to avoid slowing it up), when on the overrun. This translates into longer turbo life, and less lag when reapplying the throttle.

That "pfsssss" noise you're referring to is the sudden expelling of the boosted air (as explained above) out of the dv's vent, and into the atmosphere.

Sorry mate.

Yes, OP please don't - it's gotta be even sadder on a NA car, surely? i.e. no 'actual' reason for it ...
