Default tensioner?

best way to push tensioner pin down to lock into place before fitting to block?

i used a vice for mine, wind it in very slowly

Early tensioners can be done in the vice VERY slowly but Subaru recommend compressing the pin vertically in a Press.
Later tensioners should only be done in the vertical position.

so press it in,make sure is vertical when i do so
what about a vertical vice, as i have one of those, tilts to 180 degrees etc

and how slow

also, when the belt is on, i just remove the locking pin??
