Default wiring ...wont start after new engine

Hello i jst put in a new engine into my classic wrx and have a problem, it turns over but doesnt fire,av checkd all obvious thngs but still no go.Had a bit of a problem with the wiring loom.....at the back mounted onto gearbox theres a conector but i nevr had a conecter to put in as i had 3 seperate wires instead of conector, 2 which i believe r somthng to do with senors? on my previous engine i thnk the sensors were seperate from the engine loom but dont hav them anymore so cut the wires at back and tried t join it up as thot since loom is conecting to sensors al connect them up at back.Anyone know what i mean and why not firing lol

Going to take a guess here, but i believe that connection your talking about is the loom connector for the individual coil packs. Hence no spark no combustion.

Just can't remember off the top of my head, would have checked the car for you, but car is not on drive.
