Default coolant temp fault HELP!!

Just had a water pump fitted at a local garage!!! only place i could get to in 5 minutes drive..

Fault code 21 showing now
Coolant temp sensor,
I have removed it and cleaned it up, the car starts but runs really rough the radiator fan comes on with the egnition when the car is cold engine check light still on
(NOW THATS NOT RIGHT)

Help!!

fans on from the ignition is what happens when green connectors are still connected. So check them, and do a reset.

I Know weird, my connectors were not together, just the blacks to find the fault code. anyway i removed and cleaned the coolant temp sensor i started the car eventually after a few minutes of ticking over really bad... i got a run out of it then did a re-set, everything seems ok. only thing is, as i previously stated a local garage fitted a new water pump. (may be coincedence) but the engine steams likes mad when ive been on a run. im hoping its just water standing on the engine and dripping onto the manifold...
