Lambda question

Hi guys im after a bit of advice.My classic Type R failed the MOT today on Lambda being too high on fast idle.Would this mean the lambda is knackered? unfortunately i dont have the emissions figures to hand so i dont know how high it is.
Would the lambda sensor from a 2005 Spec C fit in a classic as i can borrow one from my other car if need be

anything else i can try

cars can fail lambda becouse of a blowing exhaust dragging air in or out worth a check although its not likely

You can can test the Lamda using a voltmeter/multimeter. Do a search for 'lambda' and/or 'O2' ans/or 'O2 sensor', and you should find threads with the testing procedure...
