MAF Sensor on 1996 Version 3 STi
Hi all,
Can faulty MAF's cause excessive rich conditions on the Boobies?
I know on the later spec classics the MAF's don't like aftermarket air filters but are the earlier ones like on my 1996 better suited to withstand them? Car was imported with a HKS filter and I have terrible fuel economy/richness/boggy and wondered if it could be the MAF?
Replaced O2 and checked for leaks inlet side but but to no avail, only getting 190 miles to a tank when driving like grandad.
Thanks,
M

OKay thanks mate, going to get a Power FC and remap with Simon. I always imagined a faulty MAF would cause lean conditions, used to MAP sensors not these tempremental air flow meters
I drove to Birmingham today from Surrey, total 280 miles, used up a full tank and then another third, £80.00! Full tank at Shell with VPower (92.4p/litre), then another £20.00 at a BP with there 97 spaff (104.6p/litre). Although it didn't help that the motorway one was 16p more expesnive per litre the robbing *******s it's still rubbish economy I can hear the richness!
I get better fuel ecomony on 350hp Starlets running 850cc injectors, stupid maps and huge turbos driving like a *******!
