3 hundred quid to change oil pump?
hi all
My classic is getting on abit and I dont know what age the oil pump is and as its sitting around 260bhp - 135000miles I thought id better see about changing it.
Having read many many horror stories about engines failing I bought an api pump. I went to my local subaru dealer for a rough figure for labour to fit it and was quoted £300.00 they said it would take 4 to 5 hours and required the removal of the sump. They also said that if it was working fine then why change it. Peace of mind.....
I know a non dealer type garage would be cheaper but was wondering what price I could expect to pay outside the dealer network.

Should take circa 3 hours and doesn't require the sump to be removed. We usually charge £150 + VAT.
The oil pump has a hard life, as all scapegoats do

£300.00 typical 'stealer' price and it just shows how much they actually know, when stating that the sump must come off.

Ginger, You need Craig Samson [ Sammy ] at The Engine Room, 18 Albert Street, Motherwell. 01698 260600.
Tell him I sent you and that you are my long lost cousin that didn't emigrate south in the Highland clearances.
That should do it.
