Default STI8 TMIC Hard Y pipe to Turbo hose classic?

I am running a classic MY99 Subaru Impreza with an STI 8 Intercooler with a hard Y Pipe. I'm after a replacement 90 degree silicon elbow hose from the end of the Intercooler Y pipe to the turbo (VF34).

After a Scoobynet search, it looks like Samco part number TV1096 may do the job. However, after a quick chat to RCM (very helpful BTW), it appears that the hose in question is only 120mm long. The rubber hose currently on my car has an internal diameter of 45mm (approx) and the leg lengths are 160mm and 100mm (measuring full length including the bend).

Can anyone confirm what hose is needed as mine is starting to split and I'd like to replace for piece of mind.

Thanks for the advice.

Well, if you have no luck, then you may have to get the whole Y-pipe combo...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STi-02-06-UPGRADE-INTERCOOLER-PIPE_W0QQitemZ140296040878QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Ca rsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item140296040878 &_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A15|39% 3A1|240%3A1318

Still bound to be a whole lot cheaper the just the 90-deg hose from Subaru though!

Thanks for the tip Joz.

I've just ordered a 150mm leg length 90 degree elbow from Ebay to try. Failing that I may junk the STI hard Y Pipe and get the MY00 Intercooler pipe and Samco silicon Y pipe combo (as shown in the scoobypedia STI8 TMIC guide).

TMIC = top mount intercooler

mounted horizontally 'on top' of engine, fed air via bonnet scoop... std Subaru fitment on turbo variants... can handle high power but heatsoaks quickly

FMIC = front mount intercooler
mounted vertically in front of radiator and air is forced through it as car is in motion... superior to TMIC as they can be made bigger therefore more efficient and much cooler running, at the expense of a bit less throttle response... handle really big power without issue

What model Impreza do you have and what's your mods/intended mods and intended power output goal, etc.?

Have a look in the Classifieds section - or eBay - for a 2nd hand stainless steel 3" 'bellmouth' style downpipe - don't pay more than £60-70 delivered.

Stick an OEM one back on... or Forge all-metal OEM replacement. Aftermarket non OEM spec VTA's can cause running issues.

For a v.3/4, you'll need a aftermarket ECU. I'd get the Apexi Power FC 2nd hand off of eBay or on here. Don't pay more than about £350 for the ECU itself plus the matching Commander controller. Jolly Green Monster aka Simon Roe can then map it for you for £250 + VAT (he travels to you, so pay his travel fuel on top. He may even have a second hand Apexi for sale - ask!). With a v.3/4 UKDM Turbo 2000 saloon, the limiting factor is the small TD04L turbo - it'll run out of puff before potential max boost level will be realised. Expect around 280bhp max.

On passenger side front suspension turret... metal ally VIN plate... "COLOR CODE"... 3-digit number - what is it?

Disc size to fit the Subaru OEM 4-pots is 294mm dia.

It's a microphone attached to the block. It picks up possible detonation (resonates at a certain frequency), to tell the OEM ECU - in harness with info from other input sensors - to alter the timing/fueling/boost level, for constantly optimised/safe running of the engine.

However, with the mappable Apexi mentioned earlier, it doesn't alter timing in presence of knock, so it relies on the skills of the mapper to make your engine safe. You'll be in safe hands with the JGM
