im running a VF28 on my 97 UK spec, with supporting mods u can reach 350bhp, im running 310 with standard injectors @ 1.4 bar of boost, i usually hit max boost by 2800 rpm, got 440cc injectors and STi 8 intercooler goin on nxt month, but depends on what power your looking for?

you already have 440cc injectors, they tend to max out at about 330bhp

When I looked into it, it was rare for a VF28 to make 350bhp, it has been done, but not by many,

Have a look at my plus profile for an idea on specs of my old car, got 309bhp.

I picked up a good condition VF28 recently for £150

Have you thought about a VF35, excellent write up here on a uk car with a FMIC:

440's are on the uk classics, 380's are on the bugeye uk models.

I had a vf28 on my99 classic running 320bhp and it made power to the redline. Awesome car, however, I now have a bugeye with a VF30 and 550's getting remapped on the 20th. Hoping to see 350bhp. If it pulls anywhere near my old classic, I'll be a happy man.

Yes phase 2 cars came in back in 1999, they have the crystal headlights and the phase 2 engine (215bhp standard v 208), these have 440cc injectors.

Tend to go for about £300 and supposedly spool quickest of the VF's, but I don't think there will be much in it. One of the main points is the VF28 is from 1999/2000 STI imports and the VF35 if from UK STI blobeyes. So you are getting a turbo that is at least about 3 years younger.

At the end of the day changing from a TD04 to a VF turbo will be quite a big difference. The main thing is that you are happy with the way it drives.

You will need to convert a TD05-16g to FE, but that would be my personal choice for a turbo.

Very capable units. Think about your gearbox before you use them to their potential.

440s are fitted as standard - they might be at the limit for 350bhp (even with uprated FPR).
