Cam belt change MY97 2000 Turbo
Hi all,
I was leafing through the docs for the Impreza the other day and I couldn't seem to find any info on a cam belt change in the service schedules, and seeing as it's on 77k, I decided it might be a grand idea to get it done!
I've not had chance to phone any local parts factors yet, but looking on ebay, it would seem I can get a good quality OE spec belt from GGR for around £30, or a kit for around the £200 mark from a few other ebay sources. That seems a little steep as I can get the ilder bearing for around £22 on it's own and the tensioner bearing for around £44 on its own, slight discrepancy there?!
Even if it's all running quite and happily, are the idler and tensioner bearings something to replace as matter of course, or is just a belt change ok? I know opinions might be divided, but I'd be happy to hear your views!
The car will also be due a full and very expensive service in Spring (that's why I'm doing it!) so getting the cambelt done would get some of it out of the way.
