Question DV removal/fitting question

Hi all I want to remove my forge vta and try my car with the OE item. I know its a 12mm socket and then you remove the pipes and refit the pipes etc, only reason I'm asking is when the OE was on I seem to remember seeing two pipes attached to either side of the valve, and with the forge I can only see one pipe attached to the right hand side (as you look at it)

Advice welcome please !

Iain

Year and model please

Sounds like a classic to me, in which case I don't have a clue, but it helps people not to guess!

My STI has one small pipe attached to the right hand side of the DV as you look at it, and one large pipe on the bottom left (which I think will be blanked off if you have a VTA DV on there at the moment).

Hope that helps

Iain. Your vta dv just has the IC mounting flange and an opening on the other side (which vents to air).

With the OEM recirc dv, instead of an opening for vta, there's a mounting collar for a rubber/silicone hose to be clamped to; the other end of which goes to the recirc take-off on the turbo intake hose.

In both cases, each valve obviously has the narrow vac hose nipple on the top - this vac hose runs to the inlet manifold..

No doubt what will have happened when the vta one was put on, is that the hose will have been junked and the opening to the redundant take-off on the turbo hose will have been blanked off with a metal 'bung'.

I suggest before fitting the recirc back on, you get yourself a length of silicone hose of the correct diameter (and with stiff walls). Then it's just a case of... remove narrow vac line to top of vta dv... unbolt vta dv from IC... refit recirc dv... reconnect narrow vac line to top of recirc dv... remove metal bung from turbo intake hose take-off... fit silicone hose between dv and turbo hose.

Job done.
