How many miles to run in bottom end rebuild?
How many miles would you guys reckon it would take run in my bottom end?
I've replaced oil pump, crank, shell bearings and one con rod on a "99 type R.

You only need to run it in if you have fitted new rings/pistons/de-glazed the bores or had a rebore done.
I would advise you to disconnect the crank sensor before initial start up,and crank it over to prime the oil pump/build oil pressure up.
Once the oil pressure warning light has gone out - reconnect the sensor and fire it up.

I concure, new shells ect by the time you you have ran the engine up having finished the job and driven down your road they will be good to go. (thats if you set the clearance correctly).

Cheers folks...I've done about 250 miles since rebuild and have been keepin it below 4/5k rpm. Very tempted to push it further...what kinda safe rpm should i be changing at in a standard Type R? The red line seems very high..
