Default GC8- GDB conversion

My V3 bottom end just died and would like to know how simple it is to convert using the whole drivetrain of the GDB V8 sti. It is cheaper to do the swap of the gdb as i am getting the better 6 speed tranny but would like to retain the old brakes

i know the whole engine/drivetrain fit but would like to know if the guages of the GDB would fit in the dashboard of the V3 model?

anyone done this type of conversion?

It is possible but a lot of work would be involved in wiring in the new dashboard, think you would need to fabricate a new loom and be pretty handy with electronics. You can retain the brakes if you can find the correct ratio rear diff.

bannysti: yes i have actually seen a V5 sti axle fits the brembo of the gdb so i would presume this will also fit the gdb axle on the old brakes.

I am a direct importer of jdm sti surplus motor so i can get everything complete even the harness

Im investigating doing this myself for my shop car. Seems cheaper than a PPG gearbox etc...and will outperform a PPG any day. Another guy tried it when i stayed in London in 2006 and it worked like a charm, but he used the wheel hubs and suspension and the interior too. All of it did fit well, just took time. Was from a written off STI7 into a 99 GT 2 door.
