Default bit worried........

my 96 sti2's engine is out and in bits, went into the garage today and i have an odb, i thought all sti's have the cdb
this then got me worried as to whether i would have the forged internals??? is there any way to ID the standard internals to check................

made 280bhp on the rollers last year with just an exhaust, so am not thinking it's a wrx engine (250???)

has just got me a little bit worried..............

I take it that your car is not an ra?, ra v2 have cdb's, not all of them iirc, but the ra v2's i have seen have all had cdb's, all the normal sti v2's i have seen have had odb's including mine. 280 is a good figure for a pretty much standard sti mate.
Not all sti's have cdb, in fact not many do iirc, most of the early ra's do have cdb's though.
Hope that helps, i would not worry too much anyway, hopefully your engine does have 'forged' pistons!
Why is it in bits?

Your pistons, if forged should have a smoothish underside, ie no hatched casting marks, someone i am sure will be along shortly to tell you what the lettering should be on your valves also.

MY96 STI V2 has a closed deck block, but did not have forged pistons.
