Check coolant level.

Sounds like it might not even have a thermostat in it, check to see if it has not been removed. ( requires draining the coolant, and removing the stat housing)

Piece of pi$$ m8.

Easiest from underneath, but you will get wet.

2x 10mm head bolts, where the bottom radiator hose meets the engine.

definatley sounds like a knackered thermostat or like previously stated "the lack of one".

LOL! Only about 45mins ago the postie delivered a Zero Sports one (from mark@lateralperformance.co.uk, £45 + VAT).

It opens at 71deg C (instead of the OEM one's 78), so should keep ave temps down (my WRX temps are slightly higher than normal , hence the purchase ).

Oh and yes, I expect your stat is stuck in the open position or, as has been mentioned, not present for some reason .

Yes that is correct and dont buy the cheap crap off ebay, as you will end up buying twice. Do it once and get a zerosports thermostat from Mark @ Lateral performance

Yes, stat housing at bottom of block on passenger side with rad bottom hose going to it (I think the housing bolts to the waterpump assembly).

gav, also see my thread here for, hopefully, some more ongoing answers...
