Default What likely power can i achieve?

right here goes,

version 4 uk turbo, quick enough out of the box anyway, in standard form quicker than a friends imported wrx and mine has a td04!

below is what i have done so far,

3" open bell mouth decat
uppipe and downpipes heatwrapped
straight through blitz exhaust
walbro gss341 uprated fuel pump
sti intercooler
ngk pfr7b's
b&m quikshift
yellow 440 injectors
ihi vf28 roller bearing turbo
green cotton panel filter
apexi power fc and remap

got to get some stuff fitted yet and mapped, what figures do you reckon i could achieve, it started out as fun then i caught the bug

I had 320 out of my vf28 with those sort of mods but it was still making power at the redline

yayyyyy

i dont want a massive turbo to be fair, id rather have less torque and the gearbox be safe??, heard td05 eats gearboxes lol, it was the original idea to get a td05 and my scoob specialist was going to get it converted to front entry but i thought id allooowwww that.

or shal i trade this turbo in and get another ???

the vf's and td05 16g are very similar.. the td05 is stronger and does have the potential to run more boost.. the vf34 and vf35 are also very nice..
if you drive normally the gearbox should be fine to 350ish and similar torque.. if you drive like the gearstick is alight then take a little off that

i can get a vf35 its available to me, but i already have the vf28 and everyone says they are ok for 340 max plus the vf28 is same as the vf34 just an older version?, the quick spool is good and thats what makes me want to keep it,

oh and im not a hectic driver either i dont ever red line, normally 5k revs and change gently,,, so i dont really want a super mad turbo where it would give most power when its heading towards the red line

dont know what boost its running to be fair mate, ive looked after it well since ive owned it, oil change every 3k miles, belts done, always keep on top of servicing,

all things being well, the injectors and turbo drop in and then he can get mapped

all this on an old R-reg car lol

No such thing as a uk version 4, do you mean a 1997 uk impreza? 208bhp standard? (versions are only applicable to JDM STi's and only from 94-00)

Not quite, the VF34 does have a larger exhaust housing and a roller bearing core. They always produce more power and torque on a like for like basis too IME.

How can a td04 make that power when I have been told that a td05 16g only makes 320bhp?

Doesnt make sense
I have similar mods to the guy on a new age wrx.

yep 97 uk turbo it is then, ive had a 00 classic too on a w-reg which i sold 7 months back because i liked this one better,, more of a RAW feel and quicker- the proper rally experience.

i have matey, and it doesnt work properly, when the car is switched off the needle sits half way past zero, when im driving and in traffic it sits at 030 which is under zero or whatever it is. Need to figure it out as the only thing its doing at the moment is looking nice when its lit up!

also thought i would mention, when i first had the straight turbo back exhaust put on, i went on the motorway and when i applied the accelerator quickly at a certain speed it would cut off for a second and pick up again, like a little thud, only on motorway though, when you accelerate from a standstill there are no issues.

my initial thought was the open bell mouth pipe causing it to boost creep, i dont think i am running high levels of boost because i bought the car bog standard a couple of years ago, all it had was a bailey dv on which i took off and put a standard dv back on.

simon (mapping monster) told me it was because of the bailey dv not openin and closing properly, has not happened since i replaced it with standard dv to be honest.
