He means: recut the valve seats and reface the valves and lap the valves in again properly.

does that mean using grinding pastes and stick to twist the valves??
looks like summit was in the cylinder and has been hitting the head
i do have other casts that i could strip and use??

yeah its around the seat itself thats damaged, the heads have been run like this as it was all covered in soot and i only noticed the damage after i started cleaning the heads
