HELP!! 2002 WRX Bug eye UK - STI engine
Help!!!!
I have a 02 WRX bug eye, and i believe the bottom end has gone. I have been told that a pre 99 STI engine will be a straight swap. Is this correct??
I have found the following recon engine for sale SUBARU IMPREZA STI 92 - 98 - EJ20 ENGINE 280hp. No ancillaries.
Would this engine be a straight forward swap, and will all my parts marry upto it?? E.g Gearbox, Turbo, Intercooler, coil etc as it comes as engine only!!
If so where does the extra performance come from this type of engine? opposed to the standard UK WRX which i have?

Ive got a 02 bugeye wrx aswell and the bottom end has just started knocking also. I think if you can get hold of a version 7/8 sti engine then you can use that not the one you have listed. What millage has your car done.
