Question

I'm thinking about adding a turbo timer to my vehicle... but i'm unsure how the turbo timer and various security devices (cobra alarm + trackstar tracker) will be affected...

Will the alarm be effectively 'unarmed' during a cool down? or will the alarm imobiliser kick in and kill everything anyway???

I'd love to hear your configurations and any hints/ideas/problems etc

Keeping the boost down for the last few miles with my right foot works for me.

I have a Sigma M30 (factory) alarm, and a Blitz Multi Speed Turbo Timer, which is wired into the car via the harness you can buy (plugs straight into the ignition wiring)

I have the MSTT set at 30 seconds. This is usually long enough for me to stop the car and take out the keys, and get the disklock on etc. Usually the engine then stops at the time I am ready to arm the alarm.

As the timer makes the engine think the key is still in the ignition, and the engine running, the alarm will not set whilst the timer is counting down.

Apparently, there is some way you can get the alarm to set using delayed relays etc, but I'm no electrician.

Hope this helps you.

My Greddy timer is wired directly to the ignition harness in accordance with the installation manual.

I also have a VIPER alarm fitted with the alarm set to passive arming/active door locking, after 30 seconds once the engine is shut down and a door has been opened.

The problem is that the Viper module never "Sees" the door open and close if the timer is counting down and you are out of the vehicle.(As the engine is still running)

However, you can still arm & lock the doors from outside the car with the timer counting down, if you hold down the number 1 button for 1.5 seconds.

The doors will lock and the alarm will be set as soon as the engine shuts down.

This is a feature with most of the Viper Alarms which works GREAT with a turbo timer.

Hope this helps!!

You will need to check with a Clifford Specalist to see if the alarm allows for active arming (i.e arming using the remote)while the engine is running.

As I said, I am pretty sure all of the Viper Alarms have this function.

Check for threads on the "SECURITY" section of this site.

Cheers
