Default Oil Filter

Just been to halfords for a 2002 sti oil filter and they only do oil filters from 1993-1999 they said they can order me one in . What is the difference between a pre 1999 and post 1999 oil filter , thought the 2.0l blocks were the same ????

I went to halfords for a filter too, they had mine (93-99) but it was the old style one, the big thick one which suffers heat soak from the exhaust header. I want the revised skinny one
Im gonna go to subaru for an oe next week. If I were you id do the same. Either that or order one off line.

Get it from a dealer or scooby tuner. Might cost a little more but they will have them in stock.
