Hi guys

The turbo has let go on my 97 sti import impreza... the turbo it has on is an IHI VF23 unit... what is my best option for replacing it with?

im needing a new unit asap so has anybody got a descent turbo that will be a direct replacement for my car?

think the vf39 would straight bolt in or the td05 turbo? if there is no budget retriction go foward aftermarket turbo. just had mine fitted hks gt turbine kit bought it from JPS tradings. still waiting for the aftermarket injectors to arrive from them also before getting a final tuning. hope the turbo wouldnt be as laggy as the standard vf23 as i am after more on midrange torque

 

A direct replacement without causing any issues to your car will be a VF23 turbo, same as the unit you have on there now.
Replacing with any other unit and not remapping for that unit (note you will need a replacement ecu and have that mapped, cost = more than a new vf23 turbo) or a new engine (cost = inexcess of 2.5k) so its up to you, like for like = ok, different = problems.

has anybody got a vf23 turbo for sale? there like rockin horse sh*t to come across second hand?? not looking to pay the 700 turbtechnics quoted for reconned unit as i could easily buy a hybrid with that sort of money...
