Default FCD, do they really work to unlimited levels?

Hey there,

Do these Fuel Cut defenders work as they say, I've seen one that reads the existing fuel cut level then allows you to adjust the level higher, to almost any level? If your engine, turbo, IC, injectors etc etc could handle higher boost than the max fuel cut of oe ecu on new age, would these little units allow you to do more on oe ecu with mapping?

the fcd doesn't 'truly' raise the boost limit.

it alters the signal to the ecu so it thinks it's running less boost than it actually is - so this in turn is making the ecu run 'leaner' than is in the standard map. - so raise boost too much and things could get ugly!

...won't help with regards to the car being mapped, mapping the car is the only way of 'safely' running lots more boost as the maps will be taylored to the boost regarding fueling and timing etc.

hope this helps

Ah, dont like that at all...didn't think it did that but guess it makes sense.

I was just trying to get oe ecu to work above 1.72 bar boost but seems that my safe limit as mapper agress....only route is after market ecu and cant see me having the money for that for many years now, especially with things as they are.
