Default Alternator belt

Can anyone tell me how you know the right tension when fitting alternator belt on my sti.

belts are normally tightened until you can just to say twist it through 90 degrees between two of the pulleys

Or about 10-12mm deflection, of moderate thumb pressure acting on the centre of the belt of the longest of the 3 runs.
