My garage has just fitted a uppipe for me, they tell me there is a whistle when the turbo comes on. Anybody got any ideas what it might be? Mick.

Yes, not so much a whistle more like a scream similar to a dump valve noise. The garage has double checked everything, no leaks anywhere.If someone has a similar set up, decat exhaust and decat uppipe, perhaps they could comment. Cheers, Mick.

 

Are you still getting the same amount of boost? Did they remove the top mount (assuming your not fount mount) if so I would check for boost leaks.

Yes, did they remove the TMIC for when taking the turbo off so as to fit the up pipe? Has everything related to the turbo and IC been put back correctly? If you have a 92-98 (v.1 - v.4) car, has the dunp valve been put back correctly? Is the rubber hose that connects it to the intercooler split? Is the re-circ take-off for the d.v. on the intake pipe split, etc.?

In short, check all pipework leading to, and from, the turbo... and also to, and from, the IC. And the throttle body short hose.
