Default Exhausts

Ive got a custom exhaust on my classic Subaru at the moment, I want rid of it for a quieter example.

Looking for either a full Magnex or a Prodrive exhaust, can anyone tell me the best place to buy them?

Cheers, Ryan.

Hi,

I have a Prodrive back box which is in excellent condition. I would be prepared to let that go for about £100 plus a bit of postage.

Regards

Jason

I'm pretty sure the system I have now is from the cat back. So I will have to check to see it will fit over the current exhaust back box?

Is the prodrive flange coupling or is it one of the slide over types?

I would be interested in the prodrive exhaust mate, cheers.

The prodrive backbox is a flange coupling.

I've got a prodrive backbox with standard downpipe, decat 2nd pipe and staight through center, just loud enough without beening too loud, if you know what i mean. Nice burble on tickover. Would be quieter still if you have a center pipe with a silencer.

Mine at the moment has a 'japcan' style back box according to the invoice. The tip has a baffle that i had to remove because it was going to fall off basically.

But with the baffle, it's an OK exhaust. But without, it's annoyingly loud. All you can hear is distortion and not the turbo spoiling, wastegate etc.

The reason I wanted a Magnex is because I had one on my Escort GTi and in my opinion, the best exhaust available for that car. Prodrive would be nice as I'm trying my best not to modify this Subaru!

Ive had a look on Revolution and I'm liking the exhaust at the top of this page.

Subaru Performance Exhausts

If I get this exhaust, will my Subaru (completely standard) pass through MOT's ok? Emission's is a big worry for me!!

You need to have a CAT in the system to pass the MOT. Your UK spec car came with two. If you remove the centre CAT by fitting a straight through pipe then you will still by fine come MOT time. If you fit a full de cat system then you will need to refit the CAT then remove it again afterwards. I have the Magnex centre pipe and back box and as you say it is very well made and sounds very nice. Centre pipe was £90 and the back box was around £200 IIRC so a good price as well.

Just noticed the exhaust you have in the link is a 3" I think your current fitment may well be 2.5". Might be worth a check.

If I buy a cat back system, so that includes the centre section then that should be alright.

Do you know off the top off your head what diameter the pipe with the cat on is?

What sort of BHP gain does a full Magnex provide?

My Magnex system just bolted on from the centre section back. I have passed MOT's with this system with no problems. I don't know what size it is, however, it was very easy and a perfect fit. As for power gains, and I am sure others will agree, where pretty good with the turbo spooling up a bit earlier. I had mine fitted prior to a re map, I only drove around for a short time with it on the standard engine. It did feel a little more responsive, so I guess it did make a gain.

As you have a MY00 are you considering an Ecutek remap, with Andy Forrest? He's up your way and for around £650 ish will transform your car. It will make the most of your new exhaust and make for a very rewarding road car. Then you will notice a power increase to around 270bhp and similar torque. I know you said you want to keep it standard, but, the bug will get you in the end.

I would definetly consider Andy Forrest for remapping. I'm still in a few minds of what to do.

I could live with myself if I started to upgrade the engine, but I'm happy with the styling and not having to worry about rust!

Cheers for all your help guys!
