Boost Gauge
Hi guys and gals, quick question.......
Going to be getting some gauges for my pride and joy but as far as boost gauges are concerned which is better - mechanical or electrical?
I would have thought mechanical but want to make sure
Cheers
Paul

mechanical ones do have less to go wrong them tbh, having said that i have a set of defis which are electronic stepper gauges and i havent had any problems with them so far! atleast with the defis you can record and playback the readings and set the warning points etc!

Just found this....
YouTube - Autogauge boost gauges - electrical vs mechanical
But like the idea of peak and hold

I have an electrical one and it seems to work okay.... BUT... when I turn the A/C on the needle stays at zero (must be a wiring issue).
I fully intend to get a mechanical one later on to get rid of this issue plus, after looking at that video, I now also realise how immediately responsive the mechanical ones are compared to the electrical. A no brainer for me.
After all, why complicate things by unnecessarily converting the totally analogue boost pressure to an electrical signal whilst still using an analogue dial?! Makes no sense (unless it has decent features like 'peak hold', etc.)

Yeah thats what I was thinking. I was going to get some prosport stepper gauges, but now I don't know whether just to get standard mech boost gauge. Doesn't have peak/hold etc, or the start/finish ceremony so may look odd with the others
