Default Defi oil temp,irregular temp??

Hi

my defi oil temp gauge seems to be giving out strange readings!

I always let it warm up to around 70-80 mark sometimes it gets their in about 15 mins, but other time it takes ages? also the car has been running for about 45 mins tonight and it keep going just over 70 then dropping to just over 50?

Any idea what this could be?

cheers

Sound like an earth fault, do you have other defi gauges and I take it they're ok..?

Has it always done this, as it could be that a bit too much PTFE (?) tape was used around the sender and it's not earthing correctly. Where is the sender fitted (main gallery/#3 or in a sandwich plate on the sump)..?

As a side note, I've noticed the last few days, how much longer it takes for temps (oil and water) to come up, surprising how much the ambient air temp make a difference.
