Question Genuine td05-16G part

Hi. I bought a TD05-16G with a 90º elbow entry. Now i'm looking to buy a front entry housing and i found this one:

2.25" Compressor housing

This is a JAWAREHOUSE product so i don't know if i should buy it or not. How can i tell if this one is a genuine Mitsubishi TD05 part or not?

edit: Can anyone tell me other supliers for this item?

cheers

You can't tell if it's genuine, I have a spare genuine 16G front cover which has been converted to f/e.

PM me if you're interested.

Yes you can as MHI do not make FE covers

xuixo, that housing is for a different compressor wheel to your 16G.

Lol, I never looked at the link.

I presume you mean FHI never made a front entry comp cover for a TD05-16G wheel with a Subaru location WG actuator mount and compressor exit style

Yes, basically the Subaru application TD05-16G never came with a front entry cover, simple as that. Neither were they ever an OE add on. By the time the layout moved to front entry, TD05s were no longer used as standard on any Subaru.

So any FE cover must be aftermarket. Therefore give it a go. I bought a genuine 16G that had had its 90 degree cover machined down and to be honest it's not the right solution really, you don't get enough 'flange' left to slip the inlet pipe securely over. A FE cover designed for the job is better.

Just wanted to know as just bought a vf23 today, and the bloody seller has pulled out says its damaged, (more like you didnt get what you wanted for it)

Hi.
I thought that the 90º entry had the part number 14412AA091 and the 14412AA092 is the exact same turbo but with a front entry. I saw here that it was used in the EJ20G engine. Is this page showing wrong information or i'm i making some mistake somewere ?

cheers

The part you have linked to is a copy of the 90 degree housing (but cast with a front entry).

It will not fit a (your) Subaru TD05 16G as it is profiled for a EVO3 16G compressor wheel which is larger.

The difference between the normal 16G and the BIG 16G is a minor change in the exducer size, the inducer and initial blade profile (the bit closest to the housing) is unchanged, so the housing should be fine on a normal 16G

Hi!
The Big 16G's compressor is rated at 34 lbs/minute which is only slightly better than the Standard 16G. The difference is how much faster the flow starts to come on with the Big 16G over the Standard 16G. The ability to move more air sooner makes the Big 16G more responsive during on-boost, off-boost, on-boost transitions. The Standard 16G will spool to full boost quicker but the Big 16G has better recovery once you drop below full boost. The Big 16G will produce between 295 and 315 WHP on a 2.0L.

We are talking about the EVO 16G wheel, not the Big 16G. Either way, both wheels are larger (inducer & exducer) are are of a different trim. If you think that will be 'fine', then no problem

Why would you talk about that, when its not what the advert says? Which is EVO3 BIG16G

MHI spec the two wheels, 16G and BIG 16G.

The big 16G and the Evo 3 16G are different wheels.

My source says otherwise (ignoring the EVo4 on reverse wheels) but am prepared to be corrected......but in that case is not the ad' a contradiction?

The E3 16g is very similar (in physical size) to the Big 16G. I suspect using the word 'big' makes the item more sellable

you can chop the 90degree part off, and then chop a straight section of the bit you just chopped off, and weld it back onto the original cover

just like i did
