Default Mot emissions high, 1 cat or 2 needed???

Hi I have a 95 impreza uk with wrx running gear, this is its first mot with me and it failed on emission co 0.80 fast idle and 0.50 on idle, my question is simple should it have one or 2 cats fitted ?I t has a straight though front pipe in with no cat, the only cat it has is in the center box. Is this my problem or should it pass with 1 cat fitted? i have tried it with cat cleaner and got it hot but makes no difference.

Please help

Regards

Paul

I just put the cat that came off when I had my PPP done back on and as long as it is nicely warmed up it passes no probs.

I have full decat from turbo back, when it come to the big M.O.T i refit my centre cat only. But it's modded and has 2 cat's in the centre now so emission fail no more.

What you need is 'friendly' garage. Do you not know anyone in the trade? Mechanics etc?
