Mot emissions high, 1 cat or 2 needed???

Hi I have a 95 impreza uk with wrx running gear, this is its first mot with me and it failed on emission co 0.80 fast idle and 0.50 on idle, my question is simple should it have one or 2 cats fitted ?I t has a straight though front pipe in with no cat, the only cat it has is in the center box. Is this my problem or should it pass with 1 cat fitted? i have tried it with cat cleaner and got it hot but makes no difference.

Please help :brickwall

Regards

Paul

I just put the cat that came off when I had my PPP done back on and as long as it is nicely warmed up it passes no probs.

hi mate i also have a uk spec 96 full decat ,i only need to put the mid cat on for the mot and it passes every time like the other guy said take it out for a run before you get to the garage to get the cat hot and up to temp if it still fails at that then its somthing else wrong like the lamda sensor

I have full decat from turbo back, when it come to the big M.O.T i refit my centre cat only. But it's modded and has 2 cat's in the centre now so emission fail no more.

What you need is 'friendly' garage. Do you not know anyone in the trade? Mechanics etc?
