as above, i tried to poke a screw driver into it, and bent it, then got a allen key, but then it broke the alt casing. grrrrr!!

so any other tips for getting the pully off??

When I got a refurbished alternator from subaru it came with the pulley fitted. Other wise the best method is with a air ratchet gun, like they use for taking wheel nuts off. You could ask your local tyre place or garage.

bugga, cant do that at the mo, may hold it in a vise and yeah har it off.

i take it that it is a normal thread on it?

yes mate i did mine recently on my 96 classic dont think it had ever been off i just put it in my big vice and had to rambo the thing as it was so tight to undo it was unreal but got it in the end using a 1/2 inch swing bar and hanging on it and yes mate normal thread anticlock to undo

oh and the standard pully is now dead as it was all scored up and bent but now its got a nice new ally one
