Default simtek launch control

Quick question on how this works,is it set so it retards igniton and limits revs until a set speed is obtained or is it untill a button or clutch is released?

No idea but unless it was used on grass allowing the wheels to spin the instant boost would kill my transmission It's for tarts who like noises or people who have proper built gearboxes

explain proper built gearboxes?

the limiting of wheelspin will be different dependant on power/surface/tyres, they only way to set up properly is testing.

That's me on both counts.

Don't think of it as traction control, it won't manage wheelspin, it's just a way of building boost while on the start line.

What I heard off, is that it´s quite harmful for the valves and the turbo!

No its for people who want quick starts for sprinting etc and not just tarts for the noise, even though there are people out there just for the noise .my 2003 6 speeder has done 2 seasons of sprinting with full throttle drop clutch starts.

Had launch and anti-lag fitted when i had the car remapped last week, haven't had the stones to try launch control yet. According to Bob, best to wait for a damp day unless you want to risk breaking something.

LOL

Well Quite !

Simtek seems to be the ECU of choice for those with early classics. Launch control is certainly a tarts part on the original box and clutch of a 69k 1995 STi

The SimTek will turn off at what ever wheel speed it is told to by the mapper , the amount of boost at launch is dependant on amount of ign retard and fuel cuts..
For gravel use turning it off at 1mph is supposed to be best according to Steve S , for the local 1/8th strip I run approx 7mph as it is a bit kinder to the transmission..
The guys using it are running consistant 1.7 60fts and one managed a 1.65 all on an unprepped surface..
