just spoke to the guy again and he said he wont accept even 6k he said its worth alot more as its the jap version 7, type ra 2001 ( however its a 54 plate isent this a 2004? ) bugeye Sti, 54 plate, has bigger turbo, alloy gearbox, and there was only 100 of these ever made it was only registered over here few months back and its the 320bhp spec, did they even make a 320 spec in this model?

i even went onto Boss Performance Cars who have similar car priced here and expensive Prestige Cars, Prestige car showroom, Prestige Car Dealer Boss Performance UK

yes the link to te one on the dealer website is near enough the same as the one i thinking of buying but the one im thinking of buying is a sti ra bugeye.

now was told its a 2001 40k on clock, also told its the lighter version, no power windows or mirrors , alloy gearbox.

was also told its the 320bhp version.

reg is **54 *** as far as i know its not a private plate was told its a 2001/3 if that helps

dvla comes up with

Date of First Registration 05 03 2008
Year of Manufacture 2001
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1990CC
CO2 Emissions 141g/Km
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour blue
Vehicle Type Approval M1

I'd advise forgetting this one and doing a lot more research into what models and specs are around. There's bucket loads for sale, so no need to jump all over the first one you see! Certainly not a Y reg 2001 54 plate

And for £8k I'd be trying to get a late 2004 early 2005, not some suspect import 7 years old. If you're going to be paying £450 a year tax it might as well be worth it

while age descrepancies are not unheard of its one of the rarer mistakes the dvla makes, it makes you wonder what else is amiss?

might not be anything, but the plate issue for me would put me well off.

the current market is definatly a buyers market, so plenty of very nice cars out there going for a pitance so not worht the risk in my opinion.

but bear in mind thats my opinion only, but after recently buying a run around and dodgy HPI checks, dodgy mechanicals the seller claims to know nothing about then i would walk away from any car that doesn't come back 'as clean as a virgins honey'

p.s. you get a well done and a pat yourself on the back for naming the film its quoted from lol

There was a bit of messing about with the bugeye WRX STi Ra versions and it was dropped from the line up after a bit because it didn't stand up to the equvalent EVO. The Ra at this time stood for "race altered" and was the cheapest bugeye available at the time because of limited kit.

They later launched the bugeye in Spec C / S202 guise and dropped the RA moniker.

The RA did come back into use again but was meant to stand for "Record Attempt" .... at the nurbhurgring (spelling).

I'd check carfully at what it actually is.....just remember the STi WRX RA was the cheapest STi they did LOL

Classic STi RA probably is..........

but the Bugeye STi's Ra's carried so much lard they had to be laid to rest. They even removed the alloy gear suuround to save weight but to no avail LOL

To the OP can i seriously suggest that you spend some time to researching the various models/editions of imprezas? You could then narrow it down to a model that suits your criteria and take a step back and have a thorough look at the market.

The market is flooded with imprezas and there are some great buys to be had. Spending some time researching and taking a few weeks to get the right car will be better then diving in for the first one you see.

s3th i hear what your saying mate

i have done a bit of researching into them mate, im not keep on pre 2001 imprezas the older shapes but i do like the newer shape 2001 upwards subarus,

seen a couple of 2003 - 2005 models, ( around 7k - 7.5k ) but they all seem to have high milage ( 80-90k), however been looking at older 2001 import models ( 7.5-8k) which have lower milage 30-40k also i do like the jdm ra bugeye import versions which have full kits, roof scoops etc they just dont have any elec windows or mirrors and are lighter.

decisions decisions, now do i go for a nice looking older 2001 jdm fully kitted model for around 7-8k or go for a newer unkitted blogeye 2005 model 7-8k with higher mileage around 80-90k.

import 01 jdm ra models 7-8k lower mileage 30-40k example.

or

blogeye 2005 model 7-8k unkitted higher mileage 80-90k
