Default FRONT MOUNT INTERCOOLER

i have fitted a fmic to my 95 uk spec impreza but when i boot it i get an unusual whistling noise at about 4000rpm to about 7000rpm from the drivers side wing area i have checked all fittings from drivers side wing to the turbo and all seem fine i am also running a t piece silicone hose by the turbo for my baileys dump valve could it be the fact that i am losing pressure through the dump valve the main problem is it only does it under load and i cant find the problem when it is sat still just by revving it,has anybody ever had this problem if so how did you cure it if anybody can help me with this problem it would be really appreciated thanks alot shaun

to also answer your question to the boost when the top mount was on the boost used to settle at 15 to 16psi now its down to about 13 to 14 psi

I've been having a similar problem with my import and I have the same dv.

I have put it down to the spring inside the dump valve is too weak.

Before I put on my FMIC it was fine (.7bar), but since then (1.0bar+) it's been whistling @ higher rpm

Just a hint what could cause the problem.
I had a whistle after changing to stock STI V8 BOV on my TMIC as well, the dumpvalves gasket was damaged!

i still have my recirculating dump valve would you recomend trying this before i take the front bumper off to check all the conections behind it,just out of curiosity do you get waste gate chatter when you change gear at low revs with your fmic as i never used to get that with my top mount

Have you put your re-circ on?

I'd try that before taking your bumper off...

Yeah, I do get a lot of wategate chatter since fitting FMIC

Could it not be the noise of the turbo through the induction kit you are hearing?
