I am power steering fluid obsessed today, I have a classic but had a similar fault. I topped up the power steering fluid and the knock has gone. Thank you mumma, I'm here all week.

Had the same prob on the drivers side.. was a worn bottom ball joint, cost about £25 for a new one. Jack it up and have a poke around, should be easy enough to spot..
