Default Radiator Connection Help

Was installing my new rad into the scoob last night and noticed these

They are located on the near side of the rad, one near the top and the other near the bottom

Didnt think anything of them until the rad was in and realised I had nothing to connect to them, to the best of my knowledge my old rad never had these connections

anyone any ideas what they are for?

could I just block them off? or could I connect one to the other with a piece of pipe?

Prob for the Oil Cooler on the Automatic Transmission equipped cars - just cap them off.
