Default HDI electronic boost controller

Can anyone shed any light on which electronic boost controller i should buy from HDI ? There's two models i've been looking at, The SBC-D special model and the SBC-D-RX, the latter supposedly designed especially for the new wrx and legacy ???

If you do a google you find a few reviews of these devices and for the money they sound very good. Would be interested to hear how many people on here have tried one and if they went for the RX or the model with the solenoid?

Depends which car you have really if you have an early car pre 97 then the boost controller doesn't have a fcd built in (i was looking at one of these for my 93wrx) but the lack of fcd put me off.
The RX is fantastic imo (especially for the price)a mate has a UK (98) car with forged internals and runs 1.3bar (has a better turbo as well) and works a treat.

i guess you've already looked here HDI

Indeed Harvey seem's to be the person to get them off and the reviews sound like it does what it was designed to do well.

myblackwrx: What ECU does your friend run?

I have a MY97 and am intending to increase the boost slightly to 1 / 1.05 bar so not to hit the fuel cut. I do have concerns that removing the fuel cut is removing a safetly feature of the ECU as is using a EBC to control boost. Only looking for a small increase in max boost and boost control further up the rev range so this device does look to be what I am looking. I want to be able to switch between a std / low boost setting and a higher setting which the RX will do too. Will be looking to add a lamco boost gauge and finally complete my scoobymonitor to keep an eye on the ECU inputs / sensors.

as far as i know it's the standard 98 ECU.

the RX actually comes with a fcd built in and reacts accordingly to the level of boost inputted so it does remove the ecus fuel cut obviously but just uses the one in the boost controller.
He is a mechanic who works for my local subaru specialist so i do trust him in his evaluation of it.
