Question numpty question

my handbrake light stays on when handbrake is off,i dont have a manual for the car is this a warning light to say brake pads are getting low?
my car is a 1995 legacy gt estate

your brake fluid is probably low, probably due to the pads being on there last legs.

hi mate, i have a similar prob with my 95 wrx, altho its only when the weather is real cold the light will stay on for a while, checked brakes, fluid, hoses etc but nowt wrong with it
