oil catch tank FULL
I have been getting my car ready for a 1/4 mile session coming up, practicing lauching it properly.
after only 6 lauches or so my oil catch tank is now totally full.
why could this have happened? or is this "normal"?
thanks
Jamie

could be due to high crank case pressure, were they full bore launches.do you get any smoke or mist out of the breather pipes/dip stick or filler cap.. or could be just down too you have over filled the sump

yes they weer full bore launches using launch control at full boost.
i havent looked yet to see what exactly it is in it just can see the sight glass is full.
maybe when i have the sump off so reseal it i will plumb directly back to the sump.
never get smoke or mist out of the filler cap etc i would chack that regularly for failed rings etc. nothing like that YET.

There are two types of oil catch cans. The more expensive version also acts as an oil separator and the content or collected material can return to the sump. However, most people have a simple catch can only and the content must not be returned to the sump. This catch can without the oil separator will contain an emulsified mixture of oil fumes and condensed water and have a light yellow, green type appearance. Subject to climatic conditions the catch can can fill very quickly and need emptied frequently but on other occasions especially on clean engines that are not heavy breathers, it can be a few weeks before the catch can has to be emptied, usually by way of a knurled screw on the bottom of the catch can.
If your catch can filled with oil as opposed to the emulsified mixture of oil and water your sump may be over filled or your engine is a heavy breather.
What was your catch can filled with ?
