Lightbulb Decat Question - Which do I have? Thanks for any help :)

Hi all,

When we bought the car the previous owner said it had a decat. I know that these cars have two decats but am not sure which one has been replaced.

Where are the cats supposed to be, one off the turbo in the downpipe and the other? This is the picture of the underside of the Wagon:

Is that a cat? Looks like one but if it is where would I find the decat? Lastly if I wanted to get rid of that where could I buy a suitable decat from?

Thanks for your time everyone

Toby

decat is the process of replacing one of the cats in your car with a pipe that has no cat in it.
it seems you may have been getting confused with the terminology

Thanks for the reply mate.

From the picture is that the centre section cat? I now know that they also have a cat in the up pipe which I guess has been removed from ours just hard to tell from looking.

From what I can see we have a decat up pipe but the normal cat in the centre section?

Thanks,

Toby

it says in your profile you have an classic import which only has 1 cat and that's in the downpipe (on saloons anyway) and on your picture you it looks like the cat is still fitted.

Hey mate,

Thanks for the info, it is indeed a Wagon import can anyone confirm that they have only one cat? Like you said it looks like the cat is still in place not sure why the previous owner said it had a decat. If it had the centre section cat where would it be, further on down the exhaust based on the picture I've posted?

What makes a good replacement, do we need to get an aftermarket up pipe or aftermarket center section to replace it? Any recommendations would be great. Sounds nice now and quite deep but want to go louder with a little less restriction!

Thanks,

T
