ESL live fitted,misfire?
Hi all, i had a ESL live fitted yesterday at Zen. The car goes like stink now, well impressed with the performance,Paul done good!
But, he stated there was a misfire on boost. On driving home,it did misfire, but only really in 5th on full boost.
Paul said it could be a coilpack,or that the plugs need re gapping. Im going to fit pfr7b's anyway, but what gap should i set them too?
Also,as the coil packs are expensive,is there any way to test them,as it would appear they only give problems on the limit?
Thanks,Mit

I would go smaller than 0.7mm now the boost is upped.. around 0.5~0.6mm
sometimes the coilpacks fail bad enough to see but usually you can see nothing and test resistance usually come up fine but when they are hot on the car the problem is evident.. if you fit new plugs and no coil pack falls apart when you remove and you use 0.5~0.6mm and it still misses then you need to buy four new coilpacks.. they all break down inside at a similar time.. it is pointless imho buying one and swapping round until you find the problem misfire one as the others will be causing a weaker spark at times you won't notice until you have replaced all four and then notice it is more perky at light throttle or when cold for example.

Thanks for the replies. It seems to only do it when hot,so coil packs looks more likely then, shame as the cost £200 for the set! Unless anyone knows a cheaper supplier?
