hey everybody
just got a problem with my car sudenly i was driving through town n my car started 2 hold back after 4k revs.
i have the following mods fmic,air filter,walbro,injectors 440cc,vf23 turbo and apexi power fc.
my injector was leakin petrol so got the seal cahnged n then it was fine all day
from 2pm up to 12am
at bout 12 wen i was driving put my foot down goes to 4000revs and jus slowly starts goin up but soundsl ike miss firing can hear the boost starting but it doesnt sound how it normallydid.
any plz help me, duno what the prob could be????

p.s. normally the car fly's thru the revs but it was holding really badly

Have you got a fuel pressure gauge? That'll tell you if you have a fuel leak,as the pressure will go once the engines off.

 

no i dont have one of those but the thing is parked up or reving the engine without driving it is perfect its fine but only wen u drive n u go above 4k revs then that happens parked up u cud go up to 7k n it wudnt do dat

Does the note of the engine change when it hits the 4k mark? When did you last change/inspect you plugs?

 

last changed the plugs bout dec-jan time not sure exaclty but it sudenly started as i was driving 1sec it was fine nex it was goin ova 4k properly

 

Does it do it when its cold aswell as hot?

 

It def sounds like a boost leak,as your problems start when on boost by the sounds of it. When you rev it parked,your not under load,and not boosting,so won't give the same problem. Check all your boost pipework.

I would look at what has been done (injector seal), maybe the injector has now got dirty and isnt fuelling as it should? Personally I would also check the coil packs as if they are original they will probably be breaking down causing a weaker spark whilst under load hence giving a slow progression. (a 97 thinking about it may only have one coil though not individual like the earlier cars)

If you accelerate gently at 4000rpm does it accelerate okay then? (obviously at a slower rate but is it smooth?)

 

mine does the same, get to about 4k in high gear under load and it stutters like a misfire or hesitation and feels lumpy under acceleration, engine light was on, may be high boost, mine runs at 1.2, im gonna try lowering it 2moro to see if that helps.
