What ECU?? MY96 WRX Wagon
Looking for a bit of help guys.
I bought a MY96 WRX wagon with a blown engine, Got it pretty cheap and it came with second hand engine, Got it home stripped and rebuilt the "good" engine and all was good, changed out the engine but then I found out that there was no ECU !!.
Looked like it previously had a FMIC and Apexi type ECU fitted.
The car is dead standard (now) except for exhaust and induction kit.
It has a TD04 so what ECU do I need to get it going as I thought that all imports had TD05s.
Cheers
Pete

Hi mate,
The Wagon came with the 1c,V5,V9 and 3b going on a previous post that we discussed. They should all be for the TD04 as far as I am aware hopefully someone else can clarify.

I'm also led to believe that all classic WRX Wagons came with a TD04, we have a TD05 on ours and we ended up using a W6 ECU from a saloon which comes with the TD05. I wasn't sure if the TD05 was standard as it was advertised as an extra on our car when we bought her. We found a U8 ECU that had a Japanese chip, we couldn't find another U8 but the W6 is the same so we used that instead, works like a charm!
If you have a TD04 then the above codes are the ones for you.
Hope this helps.

No worries Pete update us on how you get on, their are a lot of s/hand ECU's on ebay weekly so you should be able to find something with ease, managed to get mine for £12.00 although was prepared to pay up to £40.00
