Default Running Rough! (3 Cylinders...?)

Hey guys, its been a while since I've had to ask questions in the technical section but I really need help now...

I have a 96 Version 3 STI RA and it starting running really rough the other day. It idles really really low (almost cuts out) and sounds real lumpy!
I replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter, checked and cleaned the MAF, Lambda, Crank angle, Idle Control Valve and Throttle Position Sensor (all look fine).

I thought it was the coil pack because when I disconnect the leads (while the car was running) there was a constant spark on the left 2, constant spark on the bottom right and the top right would spark and stop, spark and stop etc... I tried a new coil pack today and this did the same thing.

My car is standard apart from an HKS Pod filter and an HKS exhaust.

Anyone have any other ideas? They would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks mate, I'll give that a try later on and post the results. I've also just got a new walbro fuel pump so I'm going to fit that and clean out the injectors to see if that helps.

I converted my version2 96 RA to wasted spark as per later cars, easy peasy.

Had the car towed into my closest Subaru specialist and he found the problem in the first hour of having the car. It turns out the guy I bought the car from had the timing belt changed, but not the tensioner and the water pump! Can't trust anything without receipts...! The tensioner had worn pretty badly, the water pump was leaking and missing a bolt and the belt used was poor quality and had stretched! The belt had jumped two teeth, so I was really close to having to re-build my pride and joy!

The only problem now is it hesitates slightly at low revs... Is this normal? I drove it for 10 mins while it was running rough and that completely ruined the old spark plugs so got a new set of iridium's but had to drive it with these for around 4km’s so they got a load of carbon deposits and had to be cleaned. The mechanic told me to drive it a couple of hundred km’s and it should get better. He said the valve are a little clogged up. I don’t know… I’m thinking maybe I bent a valve! I’m going to get a compression test done on Monday so will know how the internals are.

Fingers X'd
