Default my 97/98 tuning?

My sisters bloke has just bought a 98 uk classic and wants to do a bit of modding. I've only had cars from 2000 on so the earlier ones i know nothing about.

The first thing he wants to do is de-cat. Infact he already has the exhaust.

So the questions are how does the 98 ecu take to de-cating? Will it need a resitor for the lamda senser to stop the em light coming on?

How will the boost behave? Adventually its going to have a re-map with either a stand alone ecu or maybe esl when they have there 97/98 stuff sorted out by then.

May i should fit a manual boost controller? Not to increase it just to cap it at standard boost for the time being?

Thanks Mel
