if you disconnect an apexi for a couple of weeks does it keep any maps on it r doe it need to be re-mapped?

It will keep the map when battery off indefinitely.
Just dont do the init all data.

On your PFC there is an option that says INIT ALL DATA
Basically, steer clear of it, otherwise all of your map settings will be reset.
