Default Pro-Drive ECU issues and others

Hi Gents (and ladies),

Yesterday I took my 01 bugeye WRX for a service, and to have a PPP fitted that I bought second hand from ebay (I know it was a dumb thing to do but it was cheap!)

Its all fitted now, apart from the ECU (which is the important bit ).

The mechanic fitted the new ECU but then called me up when they found that the ECU was reporting low voltage from the alternator, and as such illuminated the check engine light. I told them that I didn't want a faulty ECU on the car, and they reverted to the old ECU. (I probably should add that they tested the Alternator voltage as being 100% ok, and the old ECU didn't and doesn't report this error!)

Damn.

The mechanic in question (a local Scooby specialist) told me that it might be possible to get my iffy prodrive ECU repaired. Anyone know anything about this?

Also, in the process of doing the service and doing some other odds and ends, they discovered that the up pipe is blowing slightly. I assume that will affect the turbo some how? Is the up pipe before the turbo? If so will I be losing boost because of the blowing?

Grrr, pay loads for a service and end up with more issues!!

I think you'll be better off getting one of the ecu's remapped with the likes of ecutek. Will give you more power as well.

Yeah I figured that, but I'm looking at £600 to do that as opposed to £100 to repair my 'ppp' ecu.

I'm not even sure if it is a PPP ecu. Grr.
