Hi guys my MY00 impreza turbo 2000 UK has an anoying tendancy to crunch in first and reverse gears, it only does it now and then, but sometimes more regular than others, its totally unpredictable when its going to do it but when it does its bloody awful, proper loud crunch i have to put it back to neutral!
It doesnt crunch in any other gear.

The gearbox oil was last relaced at 45k and i am changing the box and diff oil next week, will this help?
Is this a normalish thing to happen? the car has done 66k.
